Thanks for writing this. I'd love to read you digging into Twin Peaks the Return, especially episode 8 with the Trinity bomb. It's an episode that I haven't been able to shake since it aired but I'm not quite sure why (which I guess is what a lot of Lynch stuff does for folks).

Is execution-based a live-action specific note? Just wondering cuz in animation and VFX everything is actually execution based. To say so seems redundant and obvious, but then is that maybe the point of notes? Just wondering.

I also can’t help but think a simple translation is, “We would have to trust you too much if we bought this... you’d have too much power and we wouldn’t be able to intervene because it’s too specific.”

I think it probably exists as a note more in live action because of leap between words to visual/sound, and all the uncontrolled variables that have to add up to the same promise the showrunner is making about what it will be. I don’t know enough about how animation is made, but it feels like the powers that be can adjust so incrementally that it would not quite be the same

This is fantastic. I had a similar thought about Barbie/Greta Gerwig but you articulated it perfectly. How on earth, indeed?
