I’ve got so many fond memories of his class, where one day we’d be debating the ethics of oil drilling in ANWR and another he’d take us to a literal cemetery to do tombstone etchings while learning about genealogy. Mr. Somerville personally challenged me to read all of Alex Haley’s Roots in eighth grade, a point of pride I still carry with me today. Always suspected he was a secret commie ❤️. Truly one of the best to do it.
